Azalee Dorman. American journalist for Time Magazine. Wrote a feature on Shade Langley.
Connie. Professor Withers' wife, who lives at Old Mill House in Cambridge.
Cult of Ammut. Egyptian death cult, possibly assassins, who were either founded or re-emerged in the 1920s.
Dimitris Dimitriou. Cypriot who retired from shipping business to open seafood restaurant in London's Docklands. Buys/sells Byzantine antiquities and has Thai bride.
Drake Motor Car Company. Based in Wolverhampton, founded by engineers Nathan Betham-Boyd and Louis Coatalen with the badge being a fire-breathing dragon. Showcased a lightweight V12 phaeton at the 1930 London to Brighton Rally.
Earl of Kinbane. Lyle Somerled Gillespie. Decorated hero of the Great War and business tycoon, directorships at White Star Line, São Paulo Railway and De Beers. Family seat at Stansfield Park near Chichester. Involved with Gabby Dega in some, possibly nefarious capacity.
Einar Elgsson. Son of the renowned Icelandic historian, Einar accompanied the party on their trek across the glacier to the Gateway of Hell.
Gabby Dega. American comic strip artist and forger, murdered at the Brighton Metropole by hoods working for the Caruso Gang.
Greene's Hotel. A large luxury hotel in Mayfair, London, operated by the Professor's sister and serving as a base of operations for the group.
Lady Thorsen. Wife of deceased antiquarian.
Lyonesse. Mythological sunken kingdom stretching from Land's End to the Scilly Isles. Professor Withers believes a well developed pre-Roman civilisation existed there, equally as sophisticated as the Ancient Greeks.
Mr Dubois. French or Belgian, chease-eater, man in white suit, suspected villain.
Uncle Bob Caruso. Head of the Caruso Gang that dominates the South of England underworld. Lives on private train carriage that travels around Southern Railway.
